Page 1- Painted parking spots stir up debate about criteria
Who- Senior students who qualify to have a painted parking spot
What- Painted parking spots causing drama over what you can put on your parking spot and is it offensive if some people can put things and others can't
Where- James Bowie High School
When- This year , when students were getting approved for what they could put on their parking spot.
Why- Because the school district didn't think it was appropriate for a girl to put black girl magic on her spot but they thought it was ok for students to put bible verses on their parking spot.
How-By letting some students put whatever they want on their parking spots but not letting a black student to put what she wants on hers.
Summary- Every year the seniors are aloud to paint their assigned parking spot with what the school approves. This year a black girl wanted to put black girl magic and the school wouldn't let her. This caused a bunch of issues with a lot of students and even made the news.

Where- Austin ISD Schools including Bowie
Why- To asses how well the school is running and make sure everything is going well
How- Bowie received good scores by setting high expectations and overall being a good school.
Summary- Every year AISD gets an evaluation and so does Bowie personally. Austin ISD did really well with an 89 and Bowie got a 97 and Bowie also has some of the best test grades in texas.
Page 2- Crazy climate calls for air conditioning
Who- students and staff at Bowie High school
What- New A/C system system installed to help students and staff dealing with extreme temperatures
When- This new school year
Where- Bowie High school
Why- Since Bowie is very hot most of the time, people put in a new A/C system to help out with the temperatures at Bowie
How- Maintenance team came in this summer and replaced pipes and put isolation values were installed .
Summary- Bowie is a 30 year old school and some of the pipes in the building are old and starting not to work. This summer those pipes got fixed and it should help with the hot heat we have in texas.
Page 2- New school counselors come to lend a helping hands
Who- New Bowie Counselors
What- 5 New Counselors come to Bowie to help students
When- This summer right before the new school year started
Where- Bowie High School
Why- There was a big turnover in the counseling department and the school needed to get those counselors replaced
How- Interviewing Counselors this summer and choosing the best of the group they interview
Summary- The Bowie Counseling department hired 5 new counselor for the new school year. Over the years the Bowie counseling staff has been leaving but now Bowie has a fresh face. Bowie is excited to have the new staff on staff and these counselors are the best of the best and they are ready to help students.
Page 3-Construction creates congestion
Who- Students and adults stuck in the congestion on mopac
What- The congestion on MoPac causing students and adults to be extra careful and never know what's going to happen on the roads.
Where- MoPac and all around the Bowie area
When- Since January 2018- Now
Why- The reason there is so much congestion, is the construction on MoPac and all the traffic is causing adults and students to be stressed out on the roads.
How- All the construction getting more and more intense as the constructors dig deeper into the project.
Summary- As of January 2018 the traffic has been causing a lot of annoyance and unhappy drivers. Right now the roads are being re done and they are adding a bridge to make the traffic not so congested. Students and parents are stressed every time they go on the roads because you never know with traffic and also you never know with accidents that could happen.
